The Davis High boys’ swim team delivered a commanding performance at the league finals, earning 396 points and securing a decisive victory powered by a blend of senior leadership and rising underclassman talent.
Seniors Isaac Carsel and Julian Tucker set the tone early and never let up, combining for 74 points and anchoring the team’s momentum throughout the meet. Their consistency and championship-level swims provided the backbone of Davis’s success.
But the meet was far from a seniors-only show. The underclassmen stepped up in a major way, led by sophomore Denis Valle, who contributed an impressive 37 points. Strong swims from freshmen and sophomores—many of whom outperformed their seed times and moved up crucial places—kept Davis within a single point of Jesuit heading into the final stretch.
The turning point came in the relays. Davis captured first place in both the 200 freestyle relay (Carsel, Erickson, Chen, Cutler) and the 200 medley relay (Valle, Tucker, Cutler, Carsel), swinging the momentum firmly in their favor and giving the team the lead they needed.
With standout performances across all grade levels, the Davis boys proved that their strength lies not only in star power but in depth, determination, and a team-wide commitment to racing beyond expectations.
