Davis High Varsity Softball defeated Dixon High in walk-off fashion in Monday's non-leage tilt. Madison Hunter would do the honors with a bottom of the seventh sacrifice fly to give Davis the 7-6 victory.
Dixon would get on the board first with a two-run homerun. Davis would answer with single a run in the first and three in the second inning. The scoring was highlighted by a Laya Duarte homerun and a two run double by Lilah Shapiro, making the score 4-2.
Dixon would battle back putting up four runs of their own in the final three innings to take a 6-4 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh.
Singles by Sofia Bassett and Gracie Martinez would start the inning off. Lily Lingbloom would reach on an error scoring Bassett. Isa Chavez-Berman singled, and the bases were loaded. Kayt Lebar-Triepke would work a walk scoring Martinez and tie the game 6-6. Hunter got a pitch to drive and hit a deep fly to center to score the tagging Lingbloom.
Duarte started in the circle for Davis, pitching four innings and striking out seven. Lebar-Triepke appeared in relief and got the win in three innings of work.
The Blue Devils had 11 hits in the game. Led by three from lead-off hitter Martinez.
Davis is back to league play, hosting Granite Bay on Wednesday.
