The Davis High Boys and Girls Soccer teams advanced in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section D1 Soccer Playoffs.

The Girls' squad defeated Franklin 2-1 in Elk Grove Friday evening. Maddie Lujan scored both goals for the Blue Devils. They are back in action Monday, February 16th, at 6 pm at undefeated Del Oro High School.

The Boys enjoyed their Valentine's evening on the pitch, defeating Franklin of Stockton 2-0 in Davis. The game was scoreless at halftime. Franklin put most of its energy into defense, trying to just keep the game close. The strategy worked well, allowing only a single Davis goal by Subhan Rahimi in regular time. Franklin had a couple of shots in the last few minutes to tie the game, but they came up short. Davis’ Andres Gomez-Esparta scored a second goal in extra time to provide the final margin. They will host McClatchy High at 6 pm on Tuesday night.
