The Davis High girls' water polo team has had a dream season. They rolled through the SFL and the first three rounds of the playoffs undefeated. However, lingering in the back of their minds was the loss to Granite Bay in the section finals last year. The Blue Devils would get a chance to erase that memory by defeating Granite Bay in Saturday's section final at Roseville Aquatics Center. When the water finally calmed, Davis would lift the section banner, defeating Granite Bay resoundingly 13-4.
Davis started the game with focus and intensity. There was no way they would let this season end the same way. The Blue Devils raced ahead by scoring three first-quarter goals, while their defense, led by goalie Hazel Beatty, would not allow Granite Bay to score in the period.
Davis would score two more in the second period and put the game away with a six-goal explosion in the third period. Addison Sinclair led a balanced attack with three goals. Adeline Lee, Hilde McConnell, and Katie Tapio would score a pair apiece.
Coach Jamey Wright would join the team, with the tradition of jumping into the pool. Photos were snapped, and a parade of congratulatory hugs ensued.
The Blue Devils advance to the Nor-Cal Championship and will host Buchanan High on Tuesday, Nov. 18th at 5:00 pm.
