Davis High defeated Whitney in the semifinal of the San Joaquin Section D1 playoffs on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

The offense started strong, scoring 4 in the first quarter. The defense was sharp, allowing only one Whitney goal in the first half.

The Blue Devils entered the game ranked first in the section, while Whitney was ranked fourth.

Continuing their strong performance, the Blue Devils dominated Whitney for the remainder of the game, outscoring them in every quarter.

The game ended with a final score of 16-6, an important win that will send Davis to the San Joaquin Section Championship.

Davis has had a strong season, which is reflected in their rankings: first in the San Joaquin Section, ninth in California, and twelfth in the United States.

After Davis’s win, Head Coach Jamey Wright said, “I thought our defense was good; it helped to get our offense going.”

He also had some insight into what the team needs to work on. “We had some sloppy turnovers that we need to clean up; we can't afford to make those mistakes going into the championship game.”

Adding to her Coach’s statement, junior Addison Sinclair said, “Granite Bay will be a big challenge; their ability to control the center and apply pressure makes them very strong, so we need to be ready.”

Overall, Davis had a solid game. They played well and will now move on to their next big game: the championship for the San Joaquin Section.

Davis will face off against Granite Bay on Saturday, November 15, at 4:00 p.m. at the Roseville Aquatic Center for the championship, hoping to secure the section title for the 2025 season.
