The Davis High varsity field hockey team took on the Pleasant Valley Vikings for their senior night at Davis’ Dewey Halden Field.

Davis field hockey has been a force to be reckoned with for the past few years, and the 2025 season has been no different. The team has had a strong season so far, with a record of 10-2-1.

The game started off slow, with both team’s defenses having a strong game. At the end of the first half, neither team had scored.

In the third quarter, senior Addison Milner found the back of the net, and the team jumped up and down together in celebration. Davis got a one point lead, which they were able to keep for the remainder of the third quarter.
However, at the very end of the fourth quarter, Pleasant Valley came back to combat that point with a goal of their own.

This goal scored by the Vikings sent the game into a sudden death overtime period; the first team to score a goal would win.

Just over halfway through overtime, senior Bridget Berland scored a goal to win the game for Davis.

“The game went really well…Bridget scored the game winning goal. We had a lot of transfers in the back, great defense, a lot of opportunities on corners, and a lot of offensive methods and tactics,” senior Alana Clifford said.

The Blue Devils had a successful and triumphant senior night, seizing an exciting overtime win. Both goals were scored by seniors, a fitting victory for the occasion.

Seniors Madeleine Loge and Addison Milner also ended the game with one assist each. While senior Amelia Zedonis led the team with 13 steals.

The game was a strong one, but the field hockey team is still focused on what's next. Hoping to use their senior night win as momentum, the team is already looking ahead to their future games.

The team’s next matchup is against the Lassen High Grizzlies on Oct. 21. Then, they're on to a three game tournament on Oct. 25.

“We were set out to get goals based on last weeks’ performances…we had very specific things that we were focused on working on, and I think we were able to execute all of them, especially in the overtime,” varsity coach Pasindu Wanigasooriya remarked.
