The Davis High School varsity women’s golf team beat their season best score of 224 with 222 on Tuesday, Oct. 7, despite losing the match.
Tuesday’s match against Del Oro High School marked the Blue Devils’ second home match in two days, hosting the Golden Eagles at Wildhorse Golf Course.
On Monday, Davis was already performing exceptionally well, exhibiting their season best score, just to top it the next day against Del Oro.
Considering the high temperatures of nearly 90 degrees fahrenheit that day, six golfers from each team worked hard and pushed through the tough conditions.
Despite the team losing by 12 points, there were some outstanding scores; juniors Lily Lingbloom and Bella Trask led the Davis scoreboard.
“It went pretty well, regardless of the outcome… we did shoot our best score of the season, and I also shot one of my best rounds of the season,” said Lingbloom.
Lingbloom shot a 38, only missing two fairways. Trask added on to that with a score of 41. Davis also managed to have four out of six girls score under 50.
“I think we played really well as a team, and I hope we can continue to play well for our last couple of matches,” said Trask.
The Blue Devils are still looking ahead with their senior night coming up next Tuesday against Rocklin High School at Wildhorse Golf Course. They will then go on to their final 18-hole league match on Oct. 21 at Timber Creek Golf Course.
