The Blue Devils opened their home schedule with a victory over Pioneer High. The South gym was packed and loud for this matchup. With the newly coined "Road 102 Cup" at stake, the Devils start slowly falling behind in the first set 1-5. But from that point on, they dominated, winning in three straight sets: 25-8, 25-16, and 25-22.
Maddy Shull finished with a 43% kill rate, and Bella Garma Murphy recorded 6 aces across an 11-point service run in the first set.
Head coach Isaac Rivera, who has stepped in for legendary coach Julie Crawford this season, said of his squad, "Our girls did a great job across the board; every player had an impact on tonight's result. It was a great way to start off at Home. They really put their preseason work and cohesion on display. We're excited to keep it going all season."
The Blue Devils up their record to 2-0 and will be right back in action, hosting Inderkum on 8/28.
